Vikeså sports field

Over and under, high and low!

– We’re really happy with how the area turned out, and that the motor skills park is used so much.

When we play, we build skills.
When we build skills, we play.

That’s certainly the case here at Vikeså Stadium. There’s a new clubhouse, a cycling track, a roller-ski track and football pitches – and right in the middle of it all you’ll find a quite large motor skills park.

This motor skills park features a wide range of equipment, offering plenty of opportunities for activity both close to the ground and at height. There are real opportunities here to explore your own limits through play and challenges. Speed, balance and coordination are put to the test. In short, children of all ages will find exciting play – and that wonderful sense of achievement.

Risky play — you feel it in your whole body

Here, children get the chance to enjoy risk-taking play in safe surroundings. Play that encourages them to try new, exciting challenges and build new skills.

Research highlights several benefits of this kind of play: it can strengthen self-confidence, teach risk assessment, develop creativity and decision-making, and provide a powerful sense of achievement.

Not every child wants to dive straight into the more daring play, and that’s perfectly fine. There are just as many opportunities for calmer play too, exploring and mastering things little by little, completely at their own pace.

Turn waiting time and break time into play time!

Combining organised activities with opportunities for free play is ideal, both for children’s wellbeing and as an important way to ensure they get as much physical activity and play as possible.

In places like this, where children naturally come and go, and often have a bit of time to spare, it makes sense to create space for this kind of play.

The motor skills park at Vikeså is used by children and teenagers during the day, in the afternoons and at weekends. It has also become a great place to hang out and spend time with friends.
